Notch-Fabricated Mast Supports Alternative Energy Lab

Tue., Oct 20, 2009 At Western New England College in Springfield, Massachusetts, Notch Mechanical Constructors helped make a new Outdoor Alternative Energy Laboratory a reality.

A wind turbine with eight-foot blades, recently erected outside Sleith Hall, will provide electricity to the building’s mechanical engineering laboratory. The wind turbine is mounted on a 52-foot-high stainless steel mast assembly fabricated by Notch Mechanical Constructors.

The installation was designed by Curt Freedman P.E., an adjunct professor of alternative energy and energy management at the School of Engineering.
